Ashley McKarney has over 10 years of experience specializing in Human Resources, Leadership, Organizational Development and Business Management in a variety of industries including; non-profit, finance, retail and a publicly traded service organization. Throughout her career, Ashley has built comprehensive Human Resource functions, coached leaders, managed employee relations and worked with senior executives to increase engagement and strategize organizational growth. Ashley is a CPHR Candidate and holds her Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Major in Entrepreneurship and Small Business and Minors in Human Resources and Strategic Management and Organization.

Ashley fell in love with DisruptHRYEG over the past 2 years working as a volunteer and is now ecstatic to be the Chief Disruptor leading the charge in Edmonton.

Ashley founded Involvi Consulting with the goal of working with engaged leaders and business owners to improve their HR practices, provide them with ongoing expert support and to support their employees to improve working conditions and organizational culture.

Shalean Wussow

Shalean is an ambitious HR professional who is constantly looking to make a positive impact in her professional and personal relationships. As a team player, she values and focuses on innovative solutions, building strong connections, and maximizing people’s potential by understanding their goals.

The engaging hands-on education Shalean received from NAIT in completing her Bachelor of Business Administration has solidified many meaningful connections within a variety of industries. Constant learning has been crucial in Shaleans’ path as she currently works towards achieving her CPHR designation as a CPHR Candidate. As a professional Shalean is now excited to reverse the roles and be the one to deliver live case studies, as opposed to competing in them!

Aside from the day-to-day HR work Shalean is extremely passionate about giving back to the community. NAIT has been a strong influence on Shalean as a busines professional, and she currently sits as a member of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Human Resources Management program at NAIT as a proud alumnus. When Shalean is not crushing the day-to-day HR work you can find her out in the mountains snowboarding, back-country snowmobiling, dirt biking, and soaking up the sun!

Brianna Madron

A fervent HR professional by day and self-proclaimed food connoisseur by night, Brianna is known for putting everything she has into everything she does. Having received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from MacEwan University, majoring in Human Resource Management, Brianna’s combination of theoretical and practical experience ensures that she consistently provides top-notch HR solutions for her clients.

Brianna is passionate about analyzing organizational potential with a goal of increasing the bottom-line, by shifting the perspective to the wellbeing of employees and culture. She takes a progressive and strategic HR approach that includes but exceeds traditional administrative duties, while applying HR principles and practices to benefit an organization’s overall strategy.

Beyond her day-to-day work, Brianna is an active community member. She has been a core DisruptHRYEG volunteer since 2017, a Junior Achievement volunteer Mentor since 2019, as well as an active MacEwan Alumni, volunteering and supporting in a variety of events.

Alana Chan

Alana has earned trust from both businesses and people through her dedication for building an inclusive, diverse and engaged culture while delivering results. Whether you are a small or large organization, union or non-unionized environment, Alana has a well-rounded scope of all facets and functions of HR, specializing in full employee life-cycle support, rewards & recognition programs, investigations and discipline and data analytics.

Alana attended DisruptHRYEG’s first event back in 2016 and has been a proud core Disrupt volunteer from then on! While she is not driving HR strategies and disrupting HR norms, Alana is a bonafide foodie, outdoors adventurer avid rock climber and silk aerialist.

Ann-Marie Boivin

Ann-Marie is a motivated HR professional who thrives on delivering practical, people-oriented solutions and sound advice to business leaders. Since her initial dive into recruitment over 7 years ago, Ann-Marie has grown and developed her knowledge and experience to encompass a broad range of HR competencies. In taking a holistic approach, Ann-Marie’s focus is on crafting an individualized plan that will set each client up to achieve and exceed their business goals. 

Ann-Marie’s passion for People and Culture runs deep. Completing her BA in Anthropology at UBC Okanagan was the first step to developing a foundational knowledge of how to understand and critique why we do what we do. This academic background offers a subtle complement to her Human Resource Management Certificate from the University of Calgary. This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience paved the way for her to obtain her CPHR designation. Ann-Marie continues to participate in learning opportunities that will broaden and deepen her knowledge and skillset and allows her to offer the superior services her clients deserve. 

Off the clock, Ann-Marie spends time with her family and is an avid traveller with an overflowing bucket list of places to visit.
